Derek waits for Mary

Derek goes into his entrance hall and slowly waits for Mary. What Derek does not know is that Mary might be delayed for a while...

Quite a While Left

Derek walks down to his living room

Derek ran down to the living room, realizing that Mary was going to arrive quite soon. The same program seemed to be on TV. Derek did sense something different about it than last time, but was not observant enough to notice it.

3 Minutes Left

Um...

Derek does not seem to be in shock from seeing an explosion not so far from where he is. Perhaps, considering Derek loves David Bowie, he just saw this in the window.

...

Well, it least it was pretty normal.

5 Minutes Left

Derek approaches his window

Derek goes past his computer and near his window. Everything looks pretty normal, but Derek can not tell from here. He decides to get closer to the window and look, considering from here he is only blinded by the sun.

6 Minutes Left

...

Oh.

7 Minutes Left

...

When Derek looks up facilely in the dictionary, there is his Aladdin Sane record. How the heck he did not notice this until now, he does not know. On the other hand, why is he finding so many David Bowie related things in this dictionary?

8 Minutes Left

Derek checks the other part of his room

While Derek now has another David Bowie picture to hang, he still has not found that record. There is absolutely no where else he can look. Derek is beginning to think the record is facilely avoiding him.
Unless...

9 Minutes Left

...

Darn. That is one cool poster though.

10 Minutes Left

Derek gets an idea

Derek suddenly realized that he had never checked his sleeping bag right there for a record. Is the last one in there?

11 Minutes Left

Derek decides to check his bedroom one more time

 Nothing in sight.

Really, Derek believes that this shouldn't be this difficult. You wonder how the heck your records got separated in the first place, instead of being neatly in the box he had so carefully packed them in.

12 Minutes Left

Derek yet again enters the living room

Derek walks back into the living room. Nothing here, but he decides to double check.

Still nothing. As for what's on TV, Derek has no idea.

Derek looks up sophisticated

Sure enough, it shows this when Derek looks up sophisticated in the dictionary. Why the dictionary has so many Bowie pictures, Derek does not know. But enough fooling around. Derek decides to get back to searching.

14 Minutes Left

Derek hangs up the Bowie poster

See? Look at how sophisticated Bowie looks. As a matter of fact, that reminds him of something...

15 Minutes Left

Derek notices a cup on the floor

That's strange. Derek could have sworn there was no cup on the floor before he went into the chair room. Is someone else in his house, or was one of his friends playing an elaborate prank? Derek dismissed that, and he put the cup away.

Derek goes back into the kitchen

Derek slowly walks back into the kitchen. As he looks in the desk drawers for the next record, Derek quickly realizes that he did not put David Bowie in this room. Luckily, Derek seems to have found one in the desk drawers.

No record though.

Derek walks into chair room

Derek has never understood this room. His parents used this whole room and just put a chair in the middle. He never knew why. And never will.

But Derek did make it better by putting David Bowie in it.

Oh. Another record. And it's... The Rise and Fall Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders from Mars! NICE!

Time to keep looking.

18 Minutes Left

Derek decides to check the kitchen

Hm... seems as if Derek can't find any of the remaining two records in his kitchen. He does remember that he bought a majestic picture of Jack and Kate from Lost. He just stares at it for a while. It's the greatest picture ever. Except for all of his Bowies. Those are better.

But enough of that, Derek needs to keep looking.

Derek returns to the living room once again

Returning to the living room, Derek notices the television is on. The show? Gilligan's Island. One of his father's favorite shows, but Derek was never into it.

Derek decides to continue looking

20 Minutes Left

Derek logs off of Chatbert

Mary will be here in 21 minutes, so Derek decides he'd better hurry up and find those records, or the fact that he's missing two would ruin the whole hangout with Mary.

Smiling David reassures him that there will be enough time to find them.

Time Left: 21 Minutes

Derek talks to Mary

Derek: Mary! Just the girl I wanted to talk to
Mary: Hello Derek :3. How are you today?
Derek: To tell the truth, I could be a bit better
Mary: Why? Do you feel like we're ripping off a webcomic that is much more popular than us too?
Derek: W-what?
Mary: Nothing, never mind. What's wrong with you?
Derek: Well, it's nothing in particular, it's just that things around my house keep disappearing. My Phonograph and Records went missing. And I found the Phonograph and 4 of the records, but Idk why they're missing... I don't even remember putting them there.
Mary: Well... seems like you're in the beginning stages of Alzheimer's
Derek: Mary, I'm 14 years old. 14 year olds don't get Alzheimer's
Mary: :3
Mary: Well that sucks. I hope you find the rest of the records
Derek: Oh, well thanks ^^
Mary: :3
Derek: OH WAIT!
Mary: What? ???
Derek: I got your letter! The one where you invited me to... Well I couldn't read it.
Mary: ???
Derek: Didn't you send me a letter?
Mary: Nooo...
Derek: Well that's really weird. Maybe you should come over and check it out. Make sure we aren't dealing with a fraud artist here.
Mary: Yeah, maybe I should! I wanna come over anyway.
Derek: Maybe you could help me find those records I'm missing.
Mary: Yeah! I'll be over at 3!
Derek: Errr, what time is it right now?
Mary: 2:39... Don't you have a clock?
Derek: Two.
Derek: They're both broken.
Mary: :3
Mary: I see...
Mary: Anyway, I'll be over!

MARY GRAYMORT IS NOW OFFLINE

Chatbert opens

After waiting a little while, Chatbert loads up and his online friends are shown. Out of the 23 people Derek is friends with on Chatbert, only 7 are on, and out of the 7 online, the only one he knows in real life is Mary Graymort. Mary is the girl he wants to contact, so it's a good thing she's online. Derek begins chatting with her...

Derek clicks on the Chatbert sign

There we go. Looks like Derek's computer has booted up properly, and Derek is clicking onto the chat site, Chatbert. Derek hates Chatbert, but he only uses it because his friends go on it.

Derek waits until the program loads.

...

...

...

Anyway, Derek decides to talk to his friend that sent him the letter. He boots up his computer, but it looks like he'll have to wait...

...

When you look up ravishing in the dictionary, this comes up.

Derek goes to contact his friend

The room flips its 2D perspective. This has been a lesson on being simpler when you ask people to do things - Confucius

The David Bowie pictures on this side of the wall are just ravishing.

???

Derek has no idea what that even means.

Derek decides to go to his laptop

...

...And of course, a David Bowie poster slides revealing another record. Derek is happy to discover that he's found his favorite one by Bowie: Heroes. So happy that he decides to take a break and talk to his friend that sent him the letter before continuing.

4/6 David Bowie Records Found

Derek flips the 2d Perspective to reveal the other side of his room where the laptop is

Derek returns to his bedroom

Well, shucks. Derek was expecting another record to just be sitting in his room for no reason like most of the other- all of the records that he'd found so far. This makes him sad, but he decides to persevere. By standing in the middle of the room surrounded by Bowie. Waiting for something to come to him. And it obviously won't.

Derek Returns to The Living Room

And there's Scary Monsters and Super Creeps, just lying on the freaking floor, as if it was there the whole time. If Derek was smart, he'd realize something was going on.

3/6 David Bowie Records Found

...

Out of nowhere, a vinyl record comes rolling out from behind the weird thing. Score! It's Derek's copy of Heathen by David Bowie! Now that he thinks of it, he doesn't have a record that isn't by Bowie. You decide to continue the search back upstairs. That Drop The Bass poster is really creeping you out

2/6 David Bowie Records Found

Derek goes back upstairs

Derek reaches end of basement

Derek finally reaches the end of the basement, and reaches a strange... thing. This thing has been in the basement of Derek's house as long as he could remember, so he's not questioning if it's gonna kill him or anything. He also doesn't question the strange lines and the bubbly circle thing.

But seriously how in architecture does it even work...

Derek continues his walk

Walking down the hall brings you to the next part of the wall of Tv. On the left is a Gossip Girl that the author obviously knows. And in the center? The eleventh doctor!!! W00T M4N.

However, you have no clue what the heck the poster is on the right. Strangely, the first thing that comes to mind when Derek sees that is "This obviously isn't a dumb joke about this world being Black and White"

And he has no idea what any of that means.

Moving on.

Derek enters the basement

As Derek walks into his basement, which he calls the "TV Shrine", he stops to look at all of the memoribillia he's collected from various TV shows.

The crowning jewel of the collection is obviously the Dalek on the floor. He paid a whopping $300 dollars to get that thing from England. Or was it New England? Probably England, because the guy had a ridiculously thick accent. You don't know why you remembered that, but whatever.

Next on the wall is a picture of one of the Blonde chicks from Gossip Girl. You can't remember her name, and it's obviously not because the author of this webcomic has never seen this show and could never tell you the name of a single character.

And on the right of the wall that you see, Derek hung up a pretty epic poster of Lost. That's his favorite show... after Doc Who of course...

Moving on

Derek continues walk down the basement hall.

Back to the action

The David Bowie poster doesn't look like it's gonna slide back into place, so you decide to look for the other 5 records! Wait! Derek realizes he didn't check the basement! He decides to look for the other 5 records in the basement.

1/6 Records Found

Derek checks the Basement for more records

Meanwhile...

Looks like our obscure referencing hit someone in a colorful universe 2 years in the future...

Whoops.

Suddenly

Suddenly the old Bowie slides up to the left from our perspective, revealing Derek's mint condition copy of David Bowie's new album, The Next Day! As far as Derek can remember, there's 6 records he needs to find, so it looks like he only needs to find 5 more!

But Derek is still really confused. Royally Confused, if you want to reference Season 4, Episode 19 of the hit AMC TV series Gossip Girl. Featuring more action than a Michael Bay/James Cameron collaboration!

Just kidding. Better stop with the obscure references before someone gets hurt...

Confused Derek is confused

That did literally nothing to help Derek.

NOT EVERY NOOK AND CRANNY JOHN!

NOT EVERY NOOK AND CRANNY JOHN

A While Later...

Derek is confused. He doesn't know where else it could be hiding. He checked every nook and cranny.

Derek looks at problem

The box is actually a shoe box with a pair of shoes that converted to MSPAINT horribly! Derek guesses he has to keep looking.

He will have to look in every Nook and Cranny

Derek continues looking.

Derek looks at the Phonograph and Record Box

Finally! After 30 seconds, Derek has found his Phonograph and Box of Records! Now the mystical and amazing sounds of David Bowie will echo through the house once again! But wait! There seems to be a problem!

Derek observes problem.

Derek Observes Peculiar Painting

What? Derek is offended! This is no "peculiar painting"! This is a Dalek from the greatest show of all time! Doctor Who! If David Bowie wasn't around, Doctor Who would be Derek's favorite thing for sure. And if neither of those existed? Probably Lost. Or Gossip Girl, even though he has no idea how he got into that.

Derek checks bathroom

Of Course...

Derek observes found items and bathroom decorations

Derek walks into Living Room

Derek walks into his living room and admires the picture of an older David Bowie looking absolutely dashing in a dark room. Alas, there is no sign of the phonograph, or any of the records. He decides to check the bathroom, though there is no chance that anything is gonna be in there.

Derek checks the bathroom

Derek reads letter

Dear god, this is hard to read. Derek decides to just contact this person over computer and ask her what she wants. But for now, you have a Phonograph and Records to find.

Derek continues search for Phonograph and records

Derek observes letter

Derek looks at his poorly drawn hand holding the letter. It appears to be not mailed, as Derek's address isn't on it anywhere. A poorly scrawled "To Derek" is written on the front. Plus, that stamp is totally legit, so he has a feeling he knows exactly who sent it to him.

And his heart sinks, because it isn't David Bowie

Derek opens the letter

Derek looks for Phonograph and Records in Entrance Hall

Derek walks back into his entrance hall, once again shaking his head at the lack of David Bowie in the room, when he notices the door is telling him he has new mail. He decides to put off his quest for the phonograph and records to check it

Derek goes to check the mail.
